GPhC and NHS England appoint new pharmacy technician fellow

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and NHS England have appointed Becky Jarvis as their new national pharmacy technician fellow, following the success of the inaugural joint programme last year.
Jarvis brings more than 25 years of experience across hospital, commissioning, primary care, care homes and mental health services to the role. She most recently served as lead pharmacy technician within an NHS mental health trust and is currently chair of the Surrey and Sussex Branch of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK).
The one-year fellowship, co-hosted by the GPhC and the Office of the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer at NHS England, is designed to develop strategic leadership within the pharmacy technician profession and inform national policy. Jarvis will begin her fellowship on 1 July.
GPhC chief pharmacy officer Roz Gittins said the fellowship plays a key role in helping the regulator better understand how pharmacy technicians can continue to evolve their practice and contribute to delivering high-quality care for patients.
Jarvis said she hoped to inspire others to recognise the opportunities available within the profession and the impact pharmacy technicians can have at every level of the healthcare system. "Having witnessed first-hand how the profession has evolved over the past 25 years, I am passionate about helping shape the next chapter for pharmacy technicians and those entering the profession in the future," she said.
