Angus pharmacy sold to Davidsons Chemists

Edzell Pharmacy in Edzell, Angus, has been sold to Davidsons Chemists for an undisclosed price.
The standard-hours community pharmacy dispenses an average of 4,961 NHS items per month and offers additional services including Pharmacy First Plus, weight loss medication and vitamin B12 replacement. It also provides monitored dosage systems for around 50 patients at a nearby care home. The business has been owned by John Fowlie since 2014 and was brought to market to allow him to concentrate on his other three branches in the north of Scotland.
The acquisition brings Davidsons Chemists' portfolio to 58 pharmacies across Scotland.
Allan Gordon, managing director at Davidsons Chemists, said: “We are pleased to have Edzell Pharmacy join the Davidsons Chemists group as it fits in well with our brand and core geography.”
Fowlie said: "I have enjoyed owning Edzell Pharmacy for the last 12 years but, with my other branches being based further north, I wanted to concentrate on that area going forward."
The sale was facilitated by Christie & Co.
